Featherstone High School A Level and BTEC Results Day 2019
Featherstone High School is celebrating another year of excellent Sixth Form results. At A Level 75% of grades were at A*-C with seven academic subjects achieving over 40% of grades at the highest level of A*-B. In the Level 3 BTEC courses, a massive 75% of all grades were at Distinction or Distinction*. Mr Wadwa, Headteacher, added “we are so thrilled that the hard work of students and staff has paid off and now opened up so many doors of opportunity.” We are particularly pleased with our Maths results today. Mr Hind, Head of Maths commented that “despite a very difficult exam we were delighted that 30% of students achieved grades at A* and A.” Many of our students have been accepted on to their first choice courses at prestigious Russell Group Universities.
Dilmeet Singh, our first ever student to get into Cambridge (St John’s College to study Human, Social and Political Sciences), achieved an A* in Economics, A* in Politics, and an A in Maths today, and is very excited about starting his course, “my grades and my achievement are down to the hard work of the teachers here at Featherstone and my own dedication. The teachers here really push the students and motivate them to do the best that they can. I am looking forward to meeting the brightest of students from around the world at Cambridge, making friends and working hard for my future.”
Mr Paterson, who leads the FHS Scholars Programme at Featherstone, commented that “Dilmeet is an extremely motivated and hardworking student who has shown immense commitment to his studies. The Scholars Programme here provides mentoring for students, visits to Oxbridge and helps students choose courses and prepare for interviews.”
Other students celebrated getting into Russell Group Universities: Anmol Mhay (A, A, A) is starting Biochemical Engineering at UCL. She said: “I am so pleased with my results and I’m really looking forward to meeting new people at university.” Ramanpreet Singh (A, A, B) is off to King’s College London to study Computer Science and put his top grades down to: “Revising hard! I’m pleased now that I put all that hard work in and I’m really excited about starting university.”
Priya Raheja (A*, double Distinction*) wanted to thank the teachers for being “so supportive and giving the students lots of extra booster sessions”. She is looking forward to starting her course in Management and Marketing at Cardiff University. Rasat Bajwa (A*, A*, Distinction*) said he has ‘really enjoyed being at Feathestone Sixth Form. I’ve got really good friends from my time here and now I’m looking forward to starting my Economics course at Sussex University.” Tarron Sondh (Distinction* Distinction, Distinction) added “the sports facilities at Featherstone are excellent and I’d also really like to thank my Business Studies teachers for being so supportive. I’m excited about starting my Sport Management course at St Mary’s University.”
Mark Thorley, Head of Sixth Form, said, “I would like to congratulate staff and students today for their hard work and dedication. I want to wish all our students the best of luck in their future endeavours.”
