Emergency School Closure

Emergency Closure

Under exceptional circumstances we may have to close the school. Examples might be extreme weather conditions or a failure of our heating system.

The first place to look for this information will be on the front page news section of the website. We will do our best to make a decision as early as possible on the day.

We will also endeavour to send out Schoolcomms text and email alerts (please make sure your information is up to date with the school).

The local authority will also be notified of any closure.

Modified Day

What happens to the school day in the event of an emergency such as adverse weather (for example snow)?

Click here to see our normal school day.

In the event of adverse weather conditions affecting the normal operation of the school the Head teacher may proclaim a “modified day.” In that case the following times will be observed:

8.30 - 10.00 time for staff to get into work 10.15 - 10.30 10.30 - 12.00 12.00 - 12.30 12.30 - 1.00 1.00 - 1.30 1.30 - 2.30 From 2.30 - 4.00pm
10.00 - 10.15am staff break Whole school registration Periods 3 and 4 Period 5 LS1 Period 6 LS2 Period 7 LS3 Periods 8 and 9 Extra time for staff to make their return journey home
  • Break time will be replaced with registration as conditions may be too dangerous for pupils to venture out into the playground
  • Lunches will be reduced in length so that pupils can go straight back to lessons following lunch rather than waiting in the playground.
  • Pupils in years 7,8 and 9 will be dismissed at 1.30pm (this stays the same for Wednesdays)
  • All other pupils will be dismissed at 2.30pm. However if the “snow” day takes place on a Wednesday pupils in years 11 to 13 will be dismissed at 1.00pm.
