Special Educational Needs

Students with Special Educational Needs are fully integrated into our school both socially and academically by following the school curriculum.

The Learning Support Team at the school works with teachers within the curriculum to enable students with additional needs to fully access the mainstream curriculum at all Key Stages.

Our policy is that support teaching should, wherever possible, take place in the classroom during normal lessons. This means that the majority of support given by the team is in-class; this ensures that all students have a chance to follow a range of subjects alongside side their peers.

Some students, however, will receive short term interventions during the year to support their learning needs and social development. Withdrawal teaching is offered for those students who do not have sufficient literacy or numeracy skills to access the curriculum lessons in the classroom.
