16-19 Tuition Fund

16 to 19 Tuition Fund 2022-23

The 16 to 19 tuition fund is ring-fenced funding for the 2022 to 2023 academic year to provide 1:1 and small group tuition for 16 to 19 students in English, Maths, and other courses where learning has been disrupted arising from coronavirus (COVID-19). This may include vocational courses where assessment has been deferred because of lockdown.

All students must be on a 16 to 19 study programme and the funding should be used to support the tuition activity above and beyond the programmes of education already planned. It is for students who:

  • have not achieved a grade 4 or 5 in English and/or Maths
  • have a grade 4 or above in English and/or Maths, are from an economically disadvantaged background and would need catch-up support. These are defined as students from the 27% most economically deprived areas of the country based on the index of multiple deprivation.
  • Are projected to achieve below their target grade at A Level

Featherstone High is eligible to receive £27,735 for the academic year 2022-23.

Allocation Rationale

All our students in the Sixth Form study Level 3 courses. Each year, we have a significant number of students that do not have English Language or Maths to a grade 4. Our community is aspirational and in 2021, 91% of our students progressed to higher education, with 28% securing a Russell Group University.

All students that have not passed English Language (may have passed English Literature to grade 4) or Maths at the end of KS4/Year 12 automatically resit the exams. Students will continue to receive tuition until they pass the qualification. This may mean up to and including the re-take exams in May/June.

A Level Maths and Sciences students will also be prioritised for catch-up funding due the impact that Covid has had regarding the progress of students.
